Even though the issue has been discussed immensely by the news (as it should be), I feel the need to share another perspective on the incident which occurred last week involving Michael Richards, black audience “hecklers”, and a racist emerging from sheep’s clothing. I must say that not only was I appalled and amazed that he would come out of left field like that, but I’m also disgusted at his sorry attempt at an apology. Never would I have guessed that he would resort to use racial slurs to get a laugh.
I’d also assume, as a comedian, he’s had hecklers before this incident. Why was this so different? “Cosmo”, are you trying to convince the world that you felt so threatened that you needed to redress this situation by pelting a racial slur? Why use a word (which is knowingly offensive coming from anyone other than black) to retaliate…?
What’s hilarious is that an “acclaimed” comedian, who has had the fortune of being on a well-known sitcom for 10 years, has now been put to the real test of comedy, stand up, and he has failed, embarrissingly.
I honestly don’t believe that he is not a racist. Every piece of evidence is in the tape. Also, his so called “apology” came about way too quick to be genuine. The backlash from his idiocy should be posted everywhere so that he may be reminded of how insensitive and ridiculous his actions were.
…And did anyone notice how the victims of this racial attack were immediately called “hecklers”, but noone knows what they actually said. Yet, Micahel Richards is constantly being defended by his celebrity friends and different media affiliates as “someone who made a mistake.”
Excuse me while I read a verse from my ‘Ye bible:
Racism still alive, they just be concealin’ it!
Sadly, this whole tirade has not only garnered this fool attention ( there is not one person who hasn’t either thought about it, blogged it, or argued about it!), but he hasn’t recieved nearly half the abuse that Mel Gibson received earlier this year. There’s no doubt that within about a few weeks to a couple of months, Richards will be offered parts in countless programs/films.
How much do you want to bet that this’ll be swept under the rug in a couple of weeks?
Burn, Hollywood, Burn!

[...] I tried to stay out of the Michael Richards fracas because I knew that it was going to get burn everywhere in the press and on blogs. But one of the things that I pointed out to a friend of mines was this: [...]
