Movie Alert: Pontypool

25 12 2009

"Pontypool"

Earlier this year, an interesting little thriller came out called, “Pontypool.” It’s centered around Grant Mazzy, a talk radio show host, and his co-workers broadcasting their daily program in the midst of a horrible blizzard. During the program, a  series of odd events occur surrounding a local doctor’s office in the nearby town of PontyPool. These events later lead the group to discover a viral disease is spreading in their region. Interestingly enough, the disease is not spread by biological contamination, but by the comprehension of the English language.

Set mostly inside the radio station, the film has an ingenious way of capturing the audience while not overdoing the suspense. With its small cast, the thriller is an absolute must-see if for nothing else than the entertaining commentary by Stephen Mchattie (Grant Mazzy).

Neal Medlyn: “Why Won’t You Let Me Be Great!!!”

28 08 2009

Although the show is no longer running, Performance Space 122’s production of “Why Won’t You Let Me Be Great!!!” should definitely be remembered as one of the greatest performances ever! Okay, well….the greatest performance that I’ve seen in years.

WWYLMBG was an interpretive dance performance based on the 2008 Kanye West hit album “808’s & Heartbreak“. Named after a quote from a very memorable blog post from the platinum artist, the show included a wide array of performers acting out the melodies of the best-selling LP. However, Neal Medlyn left his mark on the show with his rendition of “Welcome to Heartbreak” & “Pinocchio Story”.

After doing a little more research, it seems that Medlyn’s been “re-creating” tunes for quite some time. Check out the footage of Medlyn’s hilarious version of Phil Collin’s In the Air Tonight after the jump….

Movie Alert: “Hush”

28 08 2009

Definitely worth checking out!

"Hush"

On a lazy summer Friday, I got the chance to watch a UK horror flick titled “Hush“.  To my surprise, this film renewed my faith in engaging thrillers featured/created/produced/directed by fresh talent. Without any big-time “A-listers” or any recognizable stars, this movie kept me highly interested in all characters involved throughout the plot. Check out the trailer…

MJ has passed

26 06 2009

I honestly didn’t think that my first post in ‘09 wouldn’t involve a headline so unbelievable…

The fact that I still can’t come to terms with Michael Jackson’s passing is a testament to how much of a staple he was to me and the world.

I never met him, didn’t know him (personally), and I never went to any of his concerts….but my love for his music was so unique, that I responded to an MJ jam completely different from anything else.

This man can not be forgotten.

Back at it again…

20 11 2008

….Gosh, it sure feels like forever ago since I last blogged.

But with the type of year it’s been…can you blame me? (Don’t understand?….well let me explain) Think about the last few months full of political hoopla (Obama straight stomped out McLame..lol!), economic downfalls (Lowest in 6 years), and the usual celebrity calamity. I’ve been out there living it…experiencing news….dealing with new issues….changing my life scope.

I’m back because I feel like I’ve grown as a person, but more so as a writer.

At times, I will delve a bit deeper on topics that I feel affect a subset of peoples, which in turn could affect a majority of peoples. Or I might rant/rave about a certain something..(like Obsessed comin’ in ‘09). You know, whatever fits my fancy.

Thanks to those who’ve always supported me….

Love you much!
