Back at it again…

20 11 2008

….Gosh, it sure feels like forever ago since I last blogged.

But with the type of year it’s been…can you blame me? (Don’t understand?….well let me explain) Think about the last few months full of political hoopla (Obama straight stomped out McLame..lol!), economic downfalls (Lowest in 6 years), and the usual celebrity calamity. I’ve been out there living it…experiencing news….dealing with new issues….changing my life scope.

I’m back because I feel like I’ve grown as a person, but more so as a writer.

At times, I will delve a bit deeper on topics that I feel affect a subset of peoples, which in turn could affect a majority of peoples. Or I might rant/rave about a certain something..(like Obsessed comin’ in ‘09). You know, whatever fits my fancy.

Thanks to those who’ve always supported me….

Love you much!

My very own American Gangster post (Didn’t you know? It’s the new black)

31 10 2007

Aside from the hundreds of you who have already seen the highly anticipated “American Gangster” (Nov. 2), audiences still await the major motion picture release this Friday. As it has been somewhat of a trend for half-ass flicks to premiere and upset all in one sitting (Bravo Hollywood!), I relish times when epics like this can evoke emotions (Jay-Z’s American Gangster) and entertain audiences, which in turn may resurrect the box office. In fact, I came across an interesting Entertainment Weekly interview between the two outstanding lead actors of the “American Gangster”, Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe.

EW: At the Oscars a few years ago, Chris Rock riffed about how there are really
Four movie stars in Hollywood-and he name-checked both of you.
Crowe: [Deadpan] He’s a very intelligent man, Chris. Suerintelligent, sensitive,
good man.
Washington: I’m on this side of the table from all of that. I try to do good work. How I’m perceived, what people think- that’s not what got us where we are. That’s because of what we do. You know, I love James Cagney’s book Cagney by Cagney. He’s like, “I go to work and I go home.”
EW: Do you need to think of your careers in more hardheaded business terms than ever, keeping one eye on how you’re doing at the box office?
Crowe: [To Washington] Do you think that way?
Washington: Well, I’m a businessman. I look at it this way: If somebody asked me for $100 million, I’d want my money back. So I don’t knock the studio. I know they want their money back. First of all, American Gangster is a great opportunity to work with Russell Ridley. But yes, it’s also smart business.

Black History Month

7 02 2007

 Courage

I know I’m extremely late, but I hope that everyone is observing Black History this month. Even though this month is scheduled on all american calendars, we should be acknowledging the African(-Americans) of the past who have made significant strides not just in black history, but history in general. This month we should strive to educate those ignorant to African(-Americans) figures of the past. We should also be diligent in our own efforts to learn more about our history and culture.

Dailies…

Wow…you’ve really got to appreciate the irony of it all. ( courtesy of AllHipHop.com )

This dude is officially crowned the “Capitalist Almighty.” Check out his video blog of him sharing some info on his twin girls….( notice his shameless plugs for his album and some movie he’s filming.) You gotta love Puff…excuse me, Mr. Diddy.

Things like this ensure my belief that there really is no such thing as justice.

And I know I’m kinda late… but mad kudos to SNL for finally steppin’ it up (correctly). SNL skits that are funny ( as we all know… ) are one in a million.
